Zhengzhou No. 2 High School
Zhengzhou No. 2 Middle & High School ( Zhengzhou No. 2 M& HS for short) was established in September of 1941. This was a difficult time during the Sino-Japanese War. The school’s prime objective was to handle the education of exiled teenagers. The leaders in Henan province established three war-zone middle schools. The war-zone No. 2 Middle & High School in Henan Province was the predecessor for our school. Zhengzhou No. 2 School is a combined middle-plus-high-school, with two campuses both located in the downtown of Zhengzhou city. This is a model high school for Henan Province.
To keep pace with the times, our school has established the development strategy: independence, globalization and information innovation” and the teaching concept "independent development and contented growth", and has implemented comprehensive“open-door education” policy. A series of educational reform measures are advancing nationally and we are well-poised to implement those reforms. Our school is successfully merging its historical roots with the challenges of our modern world with the advanced teaching stategy and concept.We move ahead vigorously with improved teaching methods.
In order to adapt to the new trend of education and bring about the students lifelong sustainable development, we pay great attention to the cultivation of students' innovative consciousness and innovation ability, the world view and the modern consciousness. In the autumn of 2011, our school started experimental classes in information innovation, a new international division, Lao Zhou classes, and a high-school orchestra, along with other initiatives. The “seed of hope” sown in that year has taken root and sprouted, thanks to the diligent efforts of all our teachers and students.Now they have become the key features of our school.
In September 2014, our school’s project--- Establishing Mobile Independent Class under the Digital Study Environment, won the second prize as a national teaching outcome.In 2015 ,the school was awarded as the pioneer school for the national innovation education application."The Ten Words( in Chinese)"quality education concept of Lao Zhou class, including responsibility, integrity, gratitude, team, and country, was approved by the students, parents and society.In June 2014, Zhengzhou Daily, and Zhengzhou Evening News reported Lao zhou classes on the basis of Quality Education Practice of Zhengzhou which brought a media buzz.
The International department has paved way to the students who are intended to go abroad for further study. It has established friendly and cooperative relationship with Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, which ranked first in the American public high school in innovation.The student FanGuyu was enrolled in New York University Abu Dhabi, whose acceptance rate is only 0.9% .In addition, the Orchestra has holden the New Year concert successfully for three years in a row. They have been to Australia, Russia, performing on behalf of Zhengzhou.The football, taekwondo, basketball, track and field ,and other sports are also very outstanding. It has built a comprehensiveplatform for the students to achieve their dreams..
A variety of extracurricular activities let campus become youthful and vibrant; debate competition, Speech Contest, Reading Sharing Sessions and Classical Poetry Recitation contest are well received by the students. Our school supports students’ club activities, such as aviation technology agency, TEDx community, while the latter is the star association in the heart of the students. Not only can they demonstrate themselves, but also they can enrich themselves, release passion and relieve their stress in community activities.
Letting each child enjoy "self-development and happy growth" is not only the educational pursuit of our school, but also is an guideline of our school. To provide a high-level platform for students who have unique ideas and wonderful dreams, our school has become the first organization to hold TEDx in Henan Province; At present, our shcool has been successfully holden four TEDx conferences in a row.
